Fairway Training growing from strength to strength

Fairway Training (Healthcare) has been award the prestigious Matrix standard following a matrixrigorous two-day assessment.

The Matrix Standard is a unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

The assessor looked at leadership and management, resources, service delivery and continuous quality improvement.

The sought-after accreditation places Fairway Training on a list of highly regarded training providers that also includes colleges and major universities.

The assessor, Carol Probyn, stated in her report;

‘The ‘USP’ of Fairway Training is one of its biggest strengths and that is the link with Fairway Group companies which provides the job opportunity element of MCP and also a network of employers to which learners can be signposted on completion of the programme.

This has resulted in a very impressive 89% progression into employment rate over the last 2 years.

The assessor was also very impressed by the Learner Mentors roles, stating that they;

‘proved to be a positive addition to the service and is becoming a real strength for Fairway Training. The Learning Mentors are experienced care sector workers who support potential learners and learners throughout the engagement and learning journey.’

This has capped a very successful quarter for Fairway Training, which saw the company being awarded a number of publicly funded training contracts and success in joining the prestigious Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers.

Alex O’Neill, Operations Director commented “The Matrix process was invaluable in making us reflect inward and outwardly in what we actually do and how we capture crucial information and measure ourselves. It brought the team together and created many positive situations where we discussed and reviews best practice. We engaged with learners and pulled a lot of information together which definitely provided a solid foundation for us to continue to grow and develop the entire service. The process was thought provoking as well as motivating and is a great motivational platform to continue to improve.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.

Fairway supports local charity Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer

Here’s a little bit about them…

Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer was established in 2000 by Veronica Kumeta and the late Sue Macmaster, after their friend Carol Knaggs was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Having raised money for Breast Cancer before the idea was to control where the money went, rather than giving it to national charities, so we contacted the Queen Elizabeth Birmingham and started working exclusively with them.

Sadly, Carol lost her battle with cancer, as did Sue when she was later diagnosed with the disease. But their legacy lives on…

Despite losing two close friends, Veronica continued with the charity and recruited a group of local female volunteers in 2000, with the aim of raising both funds and awareness of the disease.

Since 2000, Ladies Fight Breast Cancer has given over £1 million to the QE’s Cancer Unit, which has helped fund new medical equipment and create a ‘centre of excellence’. …….

Fairway Catering Open Day

We recently held Fairway Catering Services first Open Day! People who have worked in the 11813374_469646896541478_5259948971917043569_nHospitality sector and people with a keen interest in the industry joined us to find out more about Fairway Catering and what fantastic opportunities we have to join our ever growing team of professionals.

“The aim of the recruitment day is to take people away from the formal interview process, the reason for this is that is important to use your personality in Hospitality whilst being able to face obstacles head on and I believe this is the best way to assess those strengths. The day is very interactive whilst concentrating on team work at all times, this enables us to employ some very infectious people who have a positive effect on their team and every individual they meet in the work place. I am delighted that on the day we were able to offer 15 people a role within Fairway and due to the days huge success I am already planning the next one. Come and join me and take part in a great day!” – Tony Somers, Fairway Catering Business Development Manager Continue reading
